Courtney here. I decided that since I didn't have facebook and some people still are interested in what I'm up to at grad school, I can fill you in with the few things that are happening.
Well, I've been in Bloomington, Indiana now for going on 4 months, and I love it here. My apartment is a fabulous location close to downtown and campus. I have a FABulous roommate, Miss Amelia Smith. Who knew that when we met each other 3 years ago that we'd be living together?! Our apartment is so adorable too! Pictures will be posted soon, don't worry. We also have been enjoying our spontaneous fast food runs and indulgent antique trips. I'm sure you'll see posts with our great finds to come :)
I have made some wonderful friends here too. I really cannot imagine my summer here without them...then again, I wouldn't have had a "summer" without them. I couldn't have ask for better people to meet.
As I said, I'm here for graduate school. I'm studying Library Science at Indiana University. Let me just say, this school is not only beautiful and old and just precious in every way, but the School of Library Science is simply phenomenal. My professors are some of the greatest professors I've ever had the privilege to work with. I could go on about all of that but, let me get to this point right now- I am utterly amazed by all the different aspects of the library world and how we as librarians all come together to make it work. You really can't do your work without the contribution your fellows. Not only that, but I'm getting to do something that I love. I know that I never thought I'd ever be able to say that, but knowing that makes the stresses of school and grades disinigrate. I am doing work that means something to me personally. Instead of working on something that others want to see from me, I am in this position where I get to work on things I genuinely enjoy. I consider myself very fortunate.
That is a very brief update but, I just wanted to get something rolling on here. But I'm excited to include others in on what my life has been like in this new place. As you can see, it's already been quite spectacular.
